Life's Givens are Sometimes Life's Treats

In cruising, some of life's givens do become life's treats!  Like the trip we made to Walmart today to restock our boat. At our “Dirt” house in New Bern, I take for granted that I can drive down to a Walmart whenever I need to but they don't build those stores close to the waterways. So I was pretty excited about a trip there today with another couple from M/V (motor vessel) Spiritus, Eddy & Linda. We borrowed the courtesy van from the marina and off we went. With four of us we made quick work of finding everything we needed. This meant we had time for an obsession of Linda's...ICE CREAM!

Apparently, this little town we drove to thinks Ice Cream is important also!  Look at this sign we found!  Here Linda is making sure all see it!

By the time we arrived at DQ Linda was hyperventilating!
Especially when she found out they were having a two for one special!

Got home in time to turn the van over to the next couple reserving it and haul boat carts full of ample supplies to our boats.

And we were home just in time to see a celebrity!  For all you Gospel Music fans, Guy Penrod dropped in to our marina with wife and 5 of his smaller children aboard his large boat...... he said two were at home and the ones on the boat were home schooled.
What a nice guy.. he was in the office when I went in there and spent some time chatting with another first mate here.  Probably dropped in for fuel and maybe a trip to a well known restaurant here, Patty's.  He used to sing with the Gaither Vocal Band and is now doing very successful recordings on his own.

We have decided to stay another day here mainly because I forgot to fill a needed prescription and there doesn't look like there will be any towns with drug stores along the river any time soon.   We are looking forward to being on the hook and the peacefulness it always brings. We have heard there will be some pretty places to drop anchor on the TN River.
