Most
of the docks we have stayed at are very friendly....everyone comes
out to see the newly arriving crew, to help catch your lines or at
least to ask where you are from and where you are going and then
there are groups talking together every night.....but not here. That
is why we were so surprised that over 32 people showed up at the
gathering in the Captain's Lounge the other night. They were all
quite nice and it was fun hear their stories.
There
are probably more sail boats here than motor vessels. We know there
are people in them but rarely see them off their boats....We have
been here for one month and have never seen any of them leave even
for a day.
Here is a sailing catamaran, “Me Shells”....I know there is a Meshell aboard.

This
one is “Double Eagle” and there are always people on it...in
it...not on the dock. They fly a Canadian flag...would loved to have
met them.
New
friends here on the dock, Greg & Leslie, joined us last night on
the sun deck. They are the ones from “Amalia”, which is the
unique steel hull boat. They had some interesting stories of doing
the Loop a few years ago. And we learned a little of life AFTER the
Loop....more relaxed.....although they even did the Loop slower
taking several years and enjoying each part of it. What a great
idea!
Today we
went to lunch at a great fish place with our dear friends, Glenn &
Mavis, who live here in Vero. They have spent much time entertaining
us and Mavis has kept me company on many walks around town. It was
hard to say good-bye.......we will really miss them!
Just
had a knock on the hull....it was my new friend, Marianne! We will
get to see their beautiful boat, a Kadey-Krogen, in the morning
before we drop the lines. They just arrived here on the other dock a
few days ago.
Tomorrow:
Wind in my face on the foredeck! Wahoo!
We plan to be on the water tomorrow too. Have a safe trip.
