We
had a short cruise today crossing into North Carolina and arriving at
Southport at 1p. This gave us time to walk over to the Fishy Fishy
Cafe for lunch......a colorful place to eat. The Captain had New England Clam
chowder that was yummy. It was made by the chef that has won the
chowder cook off four years in a row! I had a delicious shrimp basket
with homemade fries and the chef's own mixture of tartar sauce.
Leaving
Little River, SC
A
large neighborhood of homes with each of street of houses also
backing up to a waterway.
Ocean
looked fairly calm from this inlet.
Winding
staircase to the widow's walk.
I
was in the galley when the Captain hollered that something "weird" was
coming down the waterway toward us.
Turned
out to be a barge with a pile driver on it.
The
Fishy Fishy Cafe.
Several
dining areas at this place: outside along a dock where you can tie up
your boat and two inside rooms.
Of
course we had to find the local ice cream place.... the lady there
makes brownies and all kinds of goodies.
This
is a cute town with many restored old homes and they also have worked
to preserve the many live oak trees which made it rather hard to get
clear pictures of the homes.
Most
of the homes were built in the 1890s
However,
a couple of single story metal roof homes were built earlier.
1839
This is tiny house built in 1875. An amazing gardener must live here!
A
pretty corner.
This
home is now a Bed & Breakfast.
My
favorite!
Next
to the marina is a preserved salt marsh where many land & sea
creatures thrive.
A
nice shady park at the marina.
It
was fun to get here early so we could roam this neat little town. Loving this warm weather......
