While
piloting Miss gg on the Waccamaw River the Captain was making up the
words to his song this morning....”Beautiful Sunshine, Oh,
Beautiful Sunshine”! Happy Captain, Happy Ship!
Yes! It was a glorious day and delightfully warm on the bridge. Here we passed the mooring field near our marina as we left the Georgetown harbor.
We
passed our new friends on Island Time while they were moving along on just one engine having had some difficulty with an idler on the other
engine. A new part was already ordered to come to the marina where they
were staying tonight.
Regina
on Island Time also took our photo.
This
is a 3 masted schooner anchored across from Wacca Wache Marina.
Some
houses near Socastee, SC
In
line waiting for swing bridge to completely open.
This
is a partly sunken barge with a crane on it.
Unless
there is a train scheduled this bridge remains open all the time.
Near
Myrtle Beach the houses were large.
This one had a steep back yard.
They
began to all look alike. So I was happy to see this stand out!
Just
after this bridge the “Rock Pile” began. This is a ditch for the
ICW dug from rock and it is narrow with shallow rock shelves on each
side. You must stay in the center of the waterway. AND if a barge comes along you must turn around and go back because there
is no room to pass!
This
is the way one gets to a golf course on the other side of the river in
Myrtle Beach.
We
passed the popular Barefoot Marina...
It is very large and on both
sides of the river. We saw several boats we recognized there. We
chose to move on to a cheaper ($1/ft) Marina in Little River, SC ,
just north of Myrtle.
We
are thankful for a good cruise today. North Carolina Tomorrow!
