Deltaville, VA

8:00a Miss gg Cruising into the Sun
We backed out slowly and left the Waterside Marina in Norfolk at 610a with very little wind to deal with as we maneuvered Miss gg into the Harbor channel.  Our Looper friends, Eddy & Linda had left just ahead of us and we soon caught up to them... Linda snapped this photo of Miss gg as we were abeam of their boat.

The water got somewhat rough but just small  white caps... we think our friends slowed down cause we have not seen this since this morning.....We continued at about 8 knots.  Both of us planned to anchor out at Deltaville tonight.

We passed two lights that used to be manned light houses.  Here is a photo of the one I thought most interesting.  Can you guess what that little house is on the side overhanging the water?
Wolf Trap Light

We thought it would take 9 hours to get here today but it only took 7 hours.  There were no places to anchor before this spot so that is why the long trip... we plan on only going about 6 hours each day.  We had the current going with us for a while and also ran the engines up when we first got to the channel to clean them out and thus our earlier arrival.  We are anchored at the back of Fishing Bay.  The weather has done exactly as predicted, about a 12 knot wind early to nearly flat seas in afternoon.  So up on the bridge of our boat even with the smileys open there was NO breeze as we navigated into this cove.  I had to go out on the fore deck to release the anchor and was really dreading the heat.  But it turned out to be the only breeze in town!  The water had tiny ripples all over it that intersected & looked like a green plaid net had been laid on top of it.  It was so pleasant on deck that I climbed out on the bow sprit (the part of the deck that sticks out from the deck over the water).  I put one leg on each side of the anchor chain.  Leaning into the wind....
I saw several very small sting rays, a sail boat went by...somehow she had found some wind to fill one small sail.  The light breeze blew in my face, I couldn't keep back the tears.. How BLESSED I am to be doing this amazing thing with the man that God picked for me!
